What We Do

LightRay Systems We Deploy

Different pipe sizes and conditions call for different systems. We deploy the right LightRay unit for your specific situation.

LightRay LR3 — Spot Repairs (3"–12")

The LR3 is our workhorse for residential and commercial spot repairs on 3- to 12-inch pipes, including 45° and 90° bends. Pull-in-place or push-in-place installation. Cure times as low as 10 minutes. Ideal for localized cracks, root intrusions, and joint failures without opening walls or pavement. LR3 product details →

LightRay 2-Inch — Laterals & Branch Lines

Built for 2-inch residential drain lines, P-traps, and tight lateral branches where traditional lining equipment can't reach. Flexible packer navigates bends and P-traps with ease. Cures in under 10 minutes once positioned. Perfect for bathroom drain lines, kitchen branches, and tight-access interior plumbing. 2-inch system details →

LightRay LRI — Lateral Inversion Lining

The LRI uses inversion technology to line lateral pipes from 3"–8" — casting up to 150 feet of pipe at 6.3 feet per minute. The cold LED light train navigates up to 90° bends internally, making it ideal for long lateral runs, sewer laterals from house to street, and multi-bend configurations. LRI system details →

LightRay LRM — Mainline Sewer (8"–12")

The LRM handles large-diameter mainline sewer rehabilitation — repairing sections up to 9 feet per liner with a 500-foot reach between access points. Fits through standard manholes. Cures in approximately 15 minutes. The right tool for municipal laterals, commercial mainlines, and large-diameter infrastructure. LRM system details →

Pre-Lining Camera Inspection

Every LightRay job starts with a video camera inspection to map the damage, confirm pipe diameter, and verify the pipe can accept a liner. We won't propose lining if the pipe needs a different solution — you get an honest assessment, not a sales pitch.

Pre-Lining Pipe Cleaning

The pipe interior must be clean for the liner to bond properly. We hydro jet or mechanically clean the line before lining to remove root material, scale, grease, and debris — ensuring a full-contact seal and maximum liner lifespan.

How LightRay UV Lining Works

1

Camera Inspection

We run a video camera through the pipe to pinpoint damage, measure diameter, and confirm the pipe is a candidate for lining.

2

Pipe Cleaning

Hydro jetting or mechanical cleaning removes roots, scale, and debris so the liner makes full contact with the pipe wall.

3

Liner Insertion

A pre-impregnated fiberglass liner — saturated with non-VOC UV-activated resin — is positioned precisely over the damaged section.

4

UV Cure

The LightRay LED packer activates the resin with UV light. The liner cures hard in 10–15 minutes, creating a seamless structural pipe within a pipe.

Why UV Curing is Better Than Heat Curing

Traditional Steam/Heat CIPP

  • Cure times of 4–8+ hours
  • Temperature-dependent — humidity and heat affect results
  • Requires bulky boiler equipment on-site
  • Higher VOC resin fumes
  • Service disruption for most of the day

LightRay UV CIPP

  • Cure times of 10–15 minutes
  • Weather- and temperature-independent
  • Compact equipment — works in tight spaces
  • Non-VOC resin — safer for enclosed spaces
  • Service restored within the hour

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a LightRay liner last?

LightRay liners are engineered to last 50+ years under normal conditions. The cured fiberglass composite is structurally independent — it becomes a pipe within a pipe — and is resistant to corrosion, root re-intrusion, and chemical attack.

Does lining reduce the pipe diameter?

Yes, slightly — the liner adds approximately 6–8mm to the pipe wall. In practice, because the interior is now smooth (vs. rough, corroded, or root-invaded pipe walls), flow rates often improve after lining despite the minor diameter reduction.

Can any damaged pipe be lined?

Not all pipes are candidates. LightRay lining works best on pipes with localized damage — cracks, root intrusions, joint failures, and corrosion. Fully collapsed sections, severely offset joints, or pipes with major structural failures typically require excavation and replacement before lining can be considered. Our camera inspection will tell you which situation you're dealing with before any work begins.

How is this different from pipe patching or epoxy coating?

Epoxy coatings and spray lining add a thin protective layer — they're not structural repairs. LightRay uses a structural fiberglass liner that meets or exceeds ASTM F1216 standards, meaning the liner itself is strong enough to function as the pipe, even if the original pipe deteriorates further.

Is LightRay available for commercial and municipal pipes?

Yes. The LRM system handles 8"–12" mainline sewer pipes and fits through standard manholes, making it suitable for commercial properties, multi-unit buildings, and municipal infrastructure. We've deployed LightRay on commercial jobs across O'ahu.

How soon can we use the pipe after lining?

Typically within 1–2 hours of the liner curing. The UV curing process itself takes 10–15 minutes; after a brief inspection pass, the line is cleared for service the same day.
